Economics is too important to be left to the economists, argues Jim Stanford, and this concise and readable book provides nonspecialists with all the information they need to understand how capitalism works (and how it doesn’t).
Now in its second edition, Economics for Everyone is an antidote to the abstract and ideological way that economics is normally taught and reported. Key concepts such as finance, competition, and wages are explored, and their importance to everyday life is revealed. Stanford answers such questions as “Do workers need capitalists,” “Why does capitalism harm the environment,” and “What really happens on the stock market.”
Illustrated with humorous and educational cartoons by Tony Biddle, and supported with a comprehensive set of web-based course materials for popular economics courses, this book will appeal to students of social sciences who need to engage with economics as well as anyone seeking to better understand today’s economy.

This is a superb book. It’s pourposse is clearly stated: to be an introduction to economics for non specialist readers. But it is really a rigorous yet clearly written book that explains complex phenomena in a direct and accesible way. It is helpfull even to university students and profesional economists trained in the neoclassical tradition that are interested in alternative approaches to economics.
I think that if the book were expanded in depht and detail it would be a formidable first year progressive alternative to mainstream textbooks. And that would be a great contribution to a recovery of pluralism in economics education. As far as I know there is not a spanish translation. It would be great to have it.

Don’t waste your time wth this book. This guys words oozes Marxism. I bought this book, via a YouTuber recommendation, to introduce my son to economics. Even my teen recognized his agenda and pointed it out to me. How do I get my money back?

I am enjoying this book and started with the print version but the print is so small is it very hard to read for any length of time. I had to buy the kindle version. If text size is an issue I recommend going straight to kindle

If you are looking to purchase this book to understand how capitalism works in a non-biased manner, I would not recommend this. By the end of the book, the author is trying to convince you why socialism is better than capitalism. I didn’t buy this book to gauge one against the other – I bought this book to understand capitalism, period. Title of the book should be changed to reflect this, and the author’s constant biases against capitalism should be edited out. If Jim keeps all the great facts he’s listed without the constant bias, the book would be WAY more powerful.

Very logically & thoughtfully written for someone new to the subject
